iPhone Restarts Problem [Solution] iPhone keeps restarting or iPhone keeps turning off and on what should I do? iPhones are at the forefront of mobile devices. We rely on them to manage their schedules, connections, medical information and even track their health. Because of the important roles phones play in our daily lives, having an iPhone that keeps restarting is almost crippling.
iPhone Restarts Problem [Solution]
The restart problem is divided into two types of problem types. One of them involves an iPhone that works for a while and then suddenly restarts. Then, repeat the process after a short period of time.
The other involves an iPhone that goes into a permanent reboot loop, starting up and then shutting down, only to reboot and repeat the loop. The first scenario gives you more versatility in solving the problem, while the second renders the phone unusable.
But don’t worry, we have several great solutions to help eliminate the problem of restarting your iPhone, regardless of the type.
Before you try anything though, if your iPhone doesn’t get stuck in a repeating loop, make sure to back up your iPhone to keep your data safe.
It will probably be fine, but safer safe than sorry, that’s the way to go. We have great documentation on backing up iPhone in case you need any guidance.
How to Fix iPhone Restarts Issue
Now that you know why your iPhone keeps restarting, we’ll show you several ways to fix this annoying problem.
Here are all the tips you need to learn in this article:
- Force restart your iPhone
- Remove and reinsert the SIM card
- Update iOS on your iPhone
- Clear application cache
- Free up storage space
- Delete battery-draining apps
- Reset Settings
Force Restart Your iPhone1. Force Restart Your iPhone
This may seem like an odd thing to suggest as it’s exactly the problem we’re trying to fix, but if the iPhone is in an automatically repeating reboot loop, forcing the iPhone to reboot can actually break that loop.
The process to restart your iPhone depends on the model you have. Follow the steps below to restart your iPhone.
For iPhone 6, press and hold the Home and Power buttons simultaneously for 10 seconds and your phone will be sent into a reboot loop.
On iPhone 7, press and hold the Side and Volume Down buttons for 10 seconds. Then release both buttons when the Apple logo appears on the screen.
If you have iPhone 8, X and later models, press and release the Volume Up button and then the Volume Down button.
2. Remove and reinsert the SIM card
Your iPhone may get stuck in a reboot loop if it doesn’t have a good connection to the wireless carrier. The problem could be from the carrier itself or your phone.
An easy and quick way to fix this problem is to remove and reinsert the SIM card. Turn off your iPhone, then use the SIM eject tool to remove the SIM tray. Wait a few seconds, then reinsert the SIM tray.
If your iPhone is still stuck in the reboot loop after removing the SIM card, move on to the next steps. We have more fixes for you to try.
3. Update iOS on your iPhone
You may have stumbled upon an operating system issue that is causing a recurring reboot.
So, if the reboot doesn’t work and you can actually access your phone (in other words, it’s not stuck in a constant reboot loop), look at the Settings tab under the General menu and check if there are any new updates to install.
If so, install the new update to get yourself to the latest iOS version. This update may solve your reboot issue.
4. Clear Application Cache
Think about when the reboot cycle occurred. It was probably recent enough, as you are unlikely to let the reboot problem stay too long.
In this case, think about the last few apps you have installed on your phone. One of them could be the reason why the system is experiencing a reboot error.
While Apple seems to obsessively scrutinize every app in the Apple Store, they can’t catch everything among the hundreds of thousands of apps available. Therefore, you may have installed an app that is causing your device to malfunction.
You can first try bringing the app from Settings and clearing its cache. If the issue is cached on your phone, this will clear the issue from your device and potentially alleviate your problem.
If that doesn’t work, you might consider uninstalling the latest apps. To be really thorough, try uninstalling them in the reverse order of their installation (if you remember what that is).
Since these problems are sometimes caused by apps, you can only eliminate the source of the reboot problem by getting rid of the app that is causing it.
5. Empty the Storage Space
If your iPhone is too full, it literally can’t run the programs it needs to stay on. So it will try again and again with reboots.
If you can connect it to your computer and access the phone’s hard drive, you can remove some files that might free up enough space for you to sneak into a normal startup. However, you’ll want to play it safe and never let your iPhone get that full again.
6. Control Battery-Draining Apps
Some applications are very lean and efficient in terms of performance. This is to protect that they use very few system resources when they run. Other applications, however, are resource-hogging juggernauts that need to be stopped.
Some apps run in the background and their busy nature heats up the iPhone so much that it will try to restart it as a means of cooling down. However, if the app restarts and runs the phone too hot, it will try the same default cool down method.
A common example of such a battery drainer is the iPhone’s GPS. If you’re about to use GPS for navigation purposes, consider forcing other battery-intensive apps to close to keep the iPhone’s battery capacity running.
In general, you can examine the Battery section under the Settings menu to find out which apps are draining the battery the most and force them to stop. Some will restart automatically, but not all.
Pil tüketen uygulamaları kullanılmadıklarında sınırlayarak veya her zaman kendi kendine başlıyor gibi görünen uygulamaları terk ederek iPhone’u yeterince serin tutabilir ve sürekli yeniden başlatma ihtiyacını önleyebilir. Herhangi bir yardıma ihtiyacınız olursa , iPhone’unuzda pil ömründen tasarruf etme konusunda harika belgelerimiz var .
7. Reset Settings
Some software issues can be resolved by resetting the iPhone’s settings by going to the Settings’ “General” tab and resetting the iPhone’s settings using the “Transfer or Reset -> Reset -> Reset All Settings” option.
This will reset the phone to factory defaults, which will probably get rid of your reboot problem. Apps and data will be safe, but any previously set passwords or logins will need to be re-entered.
Conclusion
The phone may be constantly rebooting due to a problem caused by a dislodged part or other physical damage. If you have dropped your phone and it has experienced an internal or external failure, you may need to have it repaired.
You can try removing the SIM card, but that won’t do much to heal the damaged parts inside. Even if you bring it to an Apple Store or help center, holding an iPhone open to reveal hidden damage is rarely salvageable.
So back up your data and if you are at a point where what you have is not an option, you can transfer it to a new device.
